There are so many uses for chalkboards. You can’t open a magazine without seeing them in use. Here are a few ways you might think of using them.
- Write positive affirmations on them and place them in your vanity area or office
- Write notes to your family
- List the days/weeks menus
- Use them at dinner parties to show your menu or detail food items
- Welcome signs for guests
- In the kitchen as a grocery list
The challenge with chalkboards is they can be both boring looking and costly. The good news is you can use your imagination to make chalkboards you and your family and friends will use and appreciate. The Dollar Tree is terrific for finding the components needed to make your own custom chalkboards! Here is one idea of something I made recently. We host dinner parties and I use this to list wines or food items being served. When not is use for parties, I jot ‘honey do’ notes to my hubby!
This project is SO simple – you only need four (4) items to complete it. (Linked below) To begin your project remove the glass from the frame. Using the sponge paintbrush, apply 2 coats of chalkboard paint to the glass, allowing the coats to dry completely between applications.
Once dry, return the glass to the frame with the painted side out. Cut out the foil rub-on transfer of your choice. Remove the white backing from the foil. Place the transfer, adhesive side down, onto the dry surface as desired. Firmly rub it with your fingernail or other hard, blunt object. Carefully peel off transfer. ENJOY!
